We greatly appreciate your interest in applying for an Officer or Director position on the California Desert Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors. For the upcoming election, we have created a Frequently Asked Questions page covering things to know, including timelines, qualifications, and more.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPLICATIONS

We are looking for qualified REALTOR® members to serve on the Board of Directors and help shape the future of the Association. Help us steer our Association towards a bright and prosperous future! We are now accepting applications for the 2026 Board of Directors. Once your application has been received, you will receive an immediate e-mail confirmation of receipt. If you do not receive the confirmation of receipt of your application, please contact the Association office.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS AVAILABLE POSITIONS (FOR 2026 ELECTION)

For the upcoming election, CDAR has six (6) positions available for selection. They are as follows:

  • One (1) President-Elect position
    • Elected President-Elect will serve position in 2026, and will serve as President in 2027
  • One (1) Treasurer position
    • Elected Treasurer will serve position in 2026
  • Four (4) Board of Directors positions
    • This position is a two-year term, and elected 2026 Directors will serve the 2026-2027 term

ELECTION CANDIDATE TIMELINE (FOR 2026 ELECTION)

All potential candidates for a position as an Officer or Director for the 2026 CDAR Board of Directors must adhere to the upcoming election timeline. Below are important dates to keep in mind when considering applying for a position:

  • Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 10 AM
    • CDAR Board of Directors applications go live and are available for qualified candidates (position qualifications can be found in the section below). Once your application has been received, you will receive an immediate e-mail confirmation of receipt. If you do not receive the confirmation of receipt of your application, please contact the Association office.
  • Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 12 PM
    • The Board of Directors application period closes. No applications will be considered nor accepted following this time.
  • Friday, April 11, 2025 starting at 9 AM
    • All prospective candidates must be interviewed by the CDAR Credentials Committee. You must be available for a 30-minute interview window on that day. Once your application has been received, you will receive confirmation of receipt and your interview time, which the Association will assign. All applicants will be notified should any scheduling change occur.
  • Wednesday, April 23, 2025
    • The Board of Directors will review the Credentials Committee report.
  • Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 10 AM
    • All candidates must attend the CDAR Campaign Policy meeting. The candidates will meet to discuss what is and is not allowed during the campaign process. For the full list of campaign policies, please review the section below.
  • Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 1 PM
    • The 2026 Board of Directors and Officers Candidate Slate will be sent to membership via e-mail.
  • Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 1 PM
    • Following the e-mail of the Candidate Slate, candidates will be permitted to campaign for their respective positions.
  • Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 8:30 AM
    • The 2026 Board of Directors Candidates Forum will be held at the CDAR Corporate Office. At this meeting, candidates will be able to speak to the members in attendance and campaign for their vote. All candidates are strongly encouraged to attend. For more information on the Candidates Forum, please review the Campaign Policy section below.
  • Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 11 AM
    • The 2026 Board of Directors Election period opens.
  • Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 11 AM
    • The 2026 Board of Directors Election period officially closes. No votes will be tallied following this date and time.
  • Thursday, June 19, 2025 following close of Election
    • The 2026 Board of Directors Election is ratified by the CDAR Election Committee.
  • Thursday, June 19, 2025 after ratification
    • Candidates will be notified on whether they were successfully elected.
  • Thursday, June 19, 2025 no later than 5 PM
    • The official Election results will be posted to the membership.

Please note that times and dates are subject to change, and candidates will be notified of these changes should they occur.

Board of Directors Campaign Policies

All candidates for the 2026 Board of Directors Election must always adhere to the CDAR election campaign policies during the election cycle.

Board of Director and Officer Qualifications

To qualify to run for a position with the Board of Directors, you must meet the following qualifications, as listed below. The qualifications can also be found in the CDAR Policies and Procedures manual, which can be found here.

DIRECTOR QUALIFICATIONS

  • You must be a licensed agent for 3 or more years prior to the first day of the term. (Term traditionally begins on January 1st)
  • You must be an active CDAR REALTOR® member in good standing for at least one year (12 months), or a member of another AOR in good standing for at least two years (24 months) prior to the first day of the term. (Term traditionally begins on January 1st)
  • You must have served on at least one CDAR standing committee and/or CDAR Leadership Academy for a period of at least 12 months prior to the first day of the term. (Term traditionally begins on January 1st. A full list of qualifying committees can be found in the CDAR Policies and Procedures.)
    • The following Committees are considered Standing Committees or Discretionary Committees: Desert YPN Advisory Board; Education; Government Affairs; Grievance; Investment; LCRC; Membership; Multiple Listing Service; Professional Standards; Scholarship; Strategic Planning; and Finance.
  • NAR Code of Ethics. All Final findings of NAR Code of Ethics violations and violations of other membership duties in this or any other A.O.R. within the past three years, and any unsatisfied discipline pending at any A.O.R. shall be taken into consideration when determining qualifications.
  • You must honor fiduciary duties to the CDAR and adhere to appropriate conflict of interest and disclosure rules.
  • You must be a REALTOR® member whose financial obligations to the CDAR are paid in full and whose dues and assessments are current and remain current throughout the duration of service on the Board.
  • Candidates are strongly encouraged, at a minimum, to make the $148.00 “true cost of doing business” investment to the C.A.R. REALTOR® Action Fund.
  • Candidate must complete and submit the Board of Director Application to the Association by Thursday, April 10th at 12 PM due date to be considered by the Credentials Committee.
  • Candidate must agree to and be interviewed by the Credentials Committee on Friday, April 11th. A set interview time will be sent to the candidate following receipt of application.
  • All candidates who appear on the Election ballot must also agree to attend the Campaign Policy meeting on Thursday, April 24th at 10 AM. This meeting is mandatory for anyone who is on the ballot for the 2026 Election.

OFFICER (PRESIDENT-ELECT OR TREASURER) QUALIFICATIONS

  • Meet all CDAR Director qualifications as listed above
  • Must have served as a CDAR Director for 12 months by the time their term would begin.

BOARD OF DIRECTOR TERM LIMITS (OFFICER & DIRECTOR)

  • No member may serve more than three consecutive two-year terms as a director on the Board of Directors.
  • If a director serves one full year or less than one full year of a term, then such service shall not be deemed a term that counts towards the limit of three consecutive two-year terms, set forth above. If a director serves more than one full year, but less than two full years, that service in excess of one year shall be deemed a full two-year term for purposes of term limits set forth above.
  • A member must take a two-year break off the Board of Directors before he/she would qualify to run again as a director.
  • A member who has served three consecutive two-year terms qualifies to serve as an Officer on the Board of Directors (Officer: Treasurer, President-Elect, or President)
  • A member may only serve a maximum of nine consecutive years on the Board of Directors. A member must be off the Board of Directors for two years before he/she would qualify to run for any position on the Board of Directors.
